How To Know If It’s Time To Dissolve Your Filler

If you’ve been getting lip filler for a while you may be familiar with the term, “filler migration.” This is when filler gradually migrates outside of the original placement and can happen to anyone over the course of time. Filler migration doesn’t always occur in patients but when it does, there is a simple solution – it’s time to dissolve.

The best part (and worst part) of hyaluronic acid fillers is that they are not permanent. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved in a relatively short amount of time depending on the amount of product buildup and the type of product being dissolved. Patients can begin to see the results after a dissolving treatment after just one session and typically within 24 hours. Subsequent dissolving sessions can occur within 3 days of one another.

A growing trend amongst clinicians is the requirement for new patients with existing lip filler to get the old product dissolved before they inject them with a fresh syringe. This is due to injectors not wanting to place product on poorly placed work, filler migration or unevenness. By dissolving old filler, it allows the injector to work with a blank canvas and ensures that the patient doesn’t develop an unnatural or overfilled result.

If it’s time to remove old filler and start from scratch, talk to your nurse injector about what that treatment plan looks like and what to expect. If you’re wanting to speak to one of our nurse injectors at Deux Rose Beauty Refinery, call our office at 702-683-2831!
