One of those current popular trends is at-home dermaplaning. Although it’s a popular trend on the internet, dermaplaning is one procedure you should not try to do yourself!

    Dermaplaning is a treatment where a scalpel blade is used on the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells & peach fuzz, exfoliating the skin and improving your skin’s texture. At-home dermaplaning treatments and tools simply shave your face, while dermaplaning treatments in a med spa are medical aesthetic treatments that do much more. While we do typically recommend this procedure to patients, it’s important you do not try it yourself. As previously mentioned, dermaplaning is performed with a scalpel blade, so when used incorrectly, there is a lot that could go wrong.

    Effective and safe dermaplaning requires a specific technique and an exact angle. Without knowing this, it is extremely possible you can cut your skin, which can then result in an infection and/or scarring of the skin.     A Dermaplane treatment is an exfoliation treatment that uses a scalpel to gently remove vellus hair and dead skin from the face. Dermaplane treamtents are painless, relatively quick and instantly brighten dull skin. By removing this barrier on the surface, it significantly increases  the skin’s ability to absorb a secondary treatment, which is why it’s perfectly paired with a HydraFacial. 

    HydraFacials remove impurities that are embedded in the skin using serums that are uniquely engineered just for the HydraFacial machine. Once the skin has been purified, the HydraFacial treatment concludes by infusing the skin with antioxidants that leave your skin healthy, happy and radiant.

    What is Dermaplaning?

    Our Las Vegas Dermaplaning treatment begins by cleansing the skin with a selected SkinCeuticals skin cleanser before sterilizing the skin with an alcohol wipe. Following this application, Betadine is used to dry out the skin before gently removing the first layer of dead skin and unwanted peach fuzz with a medical-grade scalpel.

    What are the Side Effects of Dermaplaning?

    Contrary to the visuals, Dermaplaning is very safe. This low-risk procedure offers very few side effects outside of slight skin redness. In rare cases, a small number of patients have developed whiteheads after receiving a Dermaplaning treatment.
