    4 Reasons Why You Should Wear SPF Daily

    For many people, the only time they think about sun protection is when they’re exposed to the sun for long periods of time. However, sun exposure adds up, and it’s important you protect your skin every day. Sun exposure in small amounts comes with its own benefits, such as vitamin D, but with the use of daily sunscreen application, protecting your skin from the harmful effects from the sun is possible.     Sunscreen protects against skin cancer.

    Sunscreen protects you from UV radiation from the sun. There are two types of UV radiation that affect your skin: UVA and UVB rays. When UV rays penetrate your skin, they damage its DNA and the cells in your dermis have to work in overdrive to produce melanin in the epidermis (top layer of the skin). When this happens, it increases the risk of various types of skin cancers such as melanoma and or carcinoma cancers.

    Sunscreen prevents premature aging.

    When your skin is exposed to UV rays, it damages your skin leading to premature aging. Your skin is composed of three layers: the epidermis, dermis and the subcutaneous layer. The dermis is the layer that contains collagen, elastin and other fibers that support your skin’s structure, health and youthful appearance. When this layer is damaged, it causes you to age prematurely.

    Sunscreen maintains healthy skin complexion.

    As noted above, UV rays damages the layer of the skin that contains the collagen and elastin that contributes to smooth and youthful skin. By applying SPF multiple times daily, you can ensure you’re maintaining a healthy complexion and glow.

    Sunscreen prevents sunburns.

    A sunburn occurs as an inflammatory response to UV damage to the skin on the epidermis. There are two types of sunscreen that can protect you from this damage: chemical sunscreen and physical sunscreen. Chemical sunscreens absorb the UV rays in an effort to prevent penetration into the skin. Physical sunscreens reflect the UV rays off the skin.     Whether you’re new to Botox or a frequent Botox receiver, you’ve probably heard a few Botox myths along the way. At Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery, our professional injectors are here to help you feel safe, educated and well-prepared prior to your treatments.     Botox Myth #1: Botox is toxic.

    If this were to be true, many medical spas would not be in business. Botox is both a protein and a neurotoxin. Despite what some people say, Botox is not capable of causing damage to your nervous system. When Botox is being injected, a minuscule amount is used for cosmetic purposes and is incapable of causing any significant damage. If you feel unsure, remember that Botox is FDA-approved and can only be dangerous if used in excessive amounts, just like any other medication.

    Botox Myth #2: Getting Botox hurts.

    Many of our patients tell us that they are quite surprised at what little discomfort they feel during their Botox treatment! A tiny needle is used for Botox injections, so a fear of needles shouldn’t hold you back. The actual Botox application itself only takes a couple minutes and most patients report minimal (if any) discomfort or pain.

    Botox Myth #3: Botox is the cure for all wrinkles.

    As much as we would like for this to be true, it is unfortunately another myth. While Botox is commonly used to treat dynamic wrinkles in your face, it is not a solution to all facial wrinkles. Botox is great for treating smaller, dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, bunny lines and your frown lines. For larger, more static wrinkles, those can often be treated with various fillers.     Botox Myth #4: Botox entirely freezes your face.

    Despite how Botox is commonly portrayed in movies, it actually does not entirely freeze your face. If Botox is administered correctly by an experienced injector, you’ll still be able to make facial expressions while minimizing your wrinkles. However, if you are a patient who likes a more “frozen” look, that is always an option as well.
