  • What is Dermaplaning?

    dermaplaning-las-vegas

“What is Dermaplaning?” We get that question a lot. Admittedly, the idea of scrapping our faces with a medical-grade scalpel doesn’t seem all too appealing, so we get it. But don’t let the visuals scare you, Dermaplaning in Las Vegas is very safe. The trained and licensed estheticians at Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery have the skills necessary to give you the fresh, beautiful skin you’ve been looking for.

    What is Dermaplaning?

Our Las Vegas Dermaplaning treatment begins by cleansing the skin with a selected SkinCeuticals skin cleanser before sterilizing the skin with an alcohol wipe. Following this application, Betadine is used to dry out the skin before gently removing the first layer of dead skin and unwanted peach fuzz with a medical-grade scalpel.

What are the Side Effects of Dermaplaning?

Contrary to the visuals, Dermaplaning is very safe. This low-risk procedure offers very few side effects outside of slight skin redness. In rare cases, a small number of patients have developed whiteheads after receiving a Dermaplaning treatment.

Does Hair Grow Back Quicker After Dermaplaning?

Another common misconception, but no, hair does not grow back quicker or thicker after receiving a Dermaplaning treatment. Now, your hair may feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but it is in fact growing at the same speed and thickness.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning leaves the skin brighter and smoother. With the removal of dead skin, Dermaplaning allows the skin to absorb additional treatments at an increased absorption rate. We recommend pairing a Dermaplaning treatment with a custom facial for best results.

    How often Should you Dermaplane?

Dermaplaning treatments are recommended once every 4 to 6 weeks.

  • How to Calculate the Golden Ratio

    Golden ratio measurement calipers
How to calculate the golden ratio and the best tool to use! golden face ratio calculator

Remember back in 2019 when the internet lost its mind when Bella Hadid was named the prettiest woman in the world? We have learned over time the most gorgeous Hollywood celebrities have a very symmetrical faces when analyzing their beauty with the “Golden Ratio.” What exactly is the Golden Ratio of Beauty? The following article will provide an in-depth review of the golden ratio and how you can use it in your medical practice for improving symmetrical results.

    What is the Golden Ratio?

The golden ratio, often denoted by the Greek letter phi (φ), is a mathematical ratio that is approximately 1.618033988749895. It occurs when a line is divided into two parts such that the longer part divided by the shorter part is equal to the whole length divided by the longer part. Mathematically, if a and b are lengths with a>b, then the golden ratio is expressed as:

    a+ba=ab=ϕ

This ratio has unique properties and appears in various areas of mathematics, art, architecture, and nature. It is often associated with aesthetically pleasing proportions and can be found in the proportions of the Parthenon, the pyramids of Egypt, and in the spirals of shells and galaxies.

In terms of an equation, the golden ratio satisfies the quadratic equation:

    x2−x−1=0

The positive solution to this equation is:

    ϕ=1+52≈1.618033988749895

How can you measure the golden ratio in medical esthetics?

In medical aesthetics, the golden ratio is often used as a guideline to achieve harmonious and balanced proportions in facial features and body structures. Here’s how the golden ratio can be measured and applied in medical aesthetics:

    • Facial Proportions

      • Vertical Proportions
        • Forehead to Chin: The face can be divided into three equal vertical sections using the golden ratio:
        • From the hairline to the top of the eyebrows.
        • From the top of the eyebrows to the bottom of the nose.
        • From the bottom of the nose to the bottom of the chin.
      • Horizontal Proportions
        • Width of the Face: The width of the face at the cheekbones should be approximately 1.618 times the width at the jawline or the width at the temples.
    • Symmetry and Balance

      • Eye Position: The distance between the eyes should be about the width of one eye.
      • Eye to Mouth Distance: The distance from the eyes to the mouth should be about 1.618 times the distance from the chin to the mouth.
    • Lip Proportions

      • Upper to Lower Lip Ratio: The height of the upper lip compared to the lower lip should be in the golden ratio, approximately 1:1.618.

    Golden Ratio Calipers

What are Golden Ratio Phi Calipers? Where to buy them..

Phi calipers, also known as golden ratio calipers or golden mean calipers, are specialized measuring tools designed to help measure and apply the golden ratio (approximately 1.618) in various fields, including art, design, architecture, and medical aesthetics. These calipers are used to ensure that proportions align with the golden ratio, which is often considered aesthetically pleasing.

Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery has created a special Phi Caliper with our partners in mind, you can find them here. Our surgical grade steel calipers are measured to perfectly assist you in facial analysis. Create a stronger result for patients and increase safety within your practice.

How are golden ratio phi calipers used in medical esthetics?

Facial Analysis is the main objective In medical aesthetics, phi calipers are used to measure and evaluate facial proportions to ensure that procedures like fillers, Botox, and surgeries enhance facial symmetry and harmony according to the golden ratio.

Example of Using Golden Ratio Phi Calipers in Medical Aesthetics

    • Facial Proportions: Aesthetic practitioners can use phi calipers to measure the distance between facial features such as the eyes, nose, and mouth, ensuring these distances adhere to the golden ratio.
    • Lip Enhancements: When injecting fillers, practitioners can use phi calipers to determine the ideal proportions of the upper and lower lips.
    • Facial Symmetry: Surgeons can plan facelifts or other surgical procedures by measuring the face with phi calipers to maintain or achieve symmetry based on the golden ratio.

    How We Can Help You!

Our Las Vegas med spa provides patients with comprehensive facial analysis using our phi calipers. We provide esthetic treatment plans for all patients looking to achieve their optimal result.

  • Everything You Need to Know About Botox

    botox

If you’ve ever scrolled through the ‘gram, watched a movie or have literally done anything, ever, you’ve come across Botox. The procedure has come a long way, helping everyone from A-list actors and actresses to the everyday person, reduce wrinkles and enjoy a variety of other benefits. While the procedure is as common as sliding into someone’s DM’s, there are still a lot of questions people have about Botox. What is Botox used for? What does Botox do to your face? How long does Botox last? Current and new patients have a right to be curious about the popular injection. That’s why we’re going to drop some knowledge and dispel some rumors. Here’s what you need to know about Botox.

    What is Botox?

Botox, or Botulinum toxin type A if you’re feelin’ fancy, is a natural toxin that doctors use to treat several health-related issues including underarm sweating, migraines, uncontrollable blinking, and wrinkles, among other things. Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery’s Vegas Botox injections are performed by licensed nurse injectors and work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or nerves to achieve a patient’s desired result.

How Long Does It Take for Botox to Work?

While every patient is different, most individuals begin to see results within seven to ten days.

    How Long does Botox Last?

This one is a bit tricky as results will vary based on a patient’s metabolic rate, but an average injection of Botox can last three to six months. Another key factor when determining how long Botox will last is whether the procedure is preventative or corrective. In a perfect world, patients would start treatment long before it’s needed. Studies have shown that when used as a preventative treatment, these injections can help train the body to not use a particular muscle, which not only alleviates excessive use of the muscle, but it also prevents static lines. When used as a corrective, however, Botox can require frequent seatings and multiple syringes to achieve desired results. Think of it this way: the best time to put gas in your car isn’t while you’re on the side of the freeway with your tank on “E.” It’s all about moderation and consistency.

    Do Botox Injections hurt?

Botox injections are relatively quick procedures, with little to mild discomfort based on the individual. As such, no numbing cream is needed. Additionally, bruising is an EXTREMELY RARE occurrence. Our licensed nurse injectors have the years of education and experience required to avoid this worst-case scenario.

There you have it. you’re officially an expert on all things Botox. For more questions about injectables, facials or to book your next Las Vegas Botox treatment, click here.

  • What The Heck Are Jelly Masks?

It’s not uncommon to see unique trends in the world of esthetics, but one that we’ve come to love at Deux Rose Beauty Refinery are hydro-jelly masks from EstheMax.

If you’re unfamiliar with the EstheMax brand, this Korean skincare company works wonders with their suite of products. These products include but not limited to, hydro-jelly masks, ampoules, rubber masks, sheet masks, under eye and lip masks and much more. One of the many things that make this brand unique, is their style of distribution. They only sell to establishments that have a licensed esthetician on premise and do not sell their products directly to the public. Korean brands are also famous for their advances in skincare and anti-aging technologies. On average, Korean skincare brands are between 5 to 10 years more advanced than American skincare companies, which is one of the reasons we love carrying their products!

This brings us to one of our favorite products- the hydro-jelly masks. For those who follow us on social media, we post these jelly masks often. The masks come in powder form and are activated by water, turning the powder into a jelly-like consistency. Jelly masks are algae based and contain organic ingredients and they seal in nutrients and infused them into the skin. We carry a variety of these jelly masks and they each have a unique property to treat a plethora of skincare ailments while cooling the skin. We offer jelly masks in our Custom Facial, Microneedling and our HydraFacial treatments.

Recently, EstheMax has created the at-home jelly kits and we offer these for retail in our clinic! Each jelly kit comes with two masks and comes in the options of Egyptian Rose, Super Greens and Antioxidant Gogi and costs just $30! These are a great way to bring your favorite professional treatment home with you.

  • What You Should Know About Microneedling: The Good, The Bad, and The Skin Pen

In the world of medical esthetics, microneedling is an extremely popular service. Microneedling is a collagen inducing treatment that helps to smooth textured skin, break up discoloration and acne scarring, and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Microneedling pens have a gauge to measure the depth of the needle, so the depth can be controlled and deliberate to deliver micro-punctures to the targeted areas. This prompts the skin to heal itself by expediting collagen production. These treatments are resurfacing, effective, and transformative, but only if done correctly.

As of 2019, there is only one FDA approved microneedling pen, which is called The Skin Pen by Bellus Medical. Our clinic uses The Skin Pen, but the enforcement of requiring clinics use FDA approved pens is abysmal. Clinics time and time again have been using micro needling pens from sources such as Amazon or overseas companies. Clinics using non-regulated microneedling pens can cause blood-borne illnesses and skin damage due to lack of safety features.

When a client is microneedling, blood is produced as a result of the micro-punctures, this can cause what is called, backflow, in the back of the pens tip. Due to the hard to reach area behind the microneedle pen tip, clients are at the mercy of the clinic’s sanitation protocols to ensure they are not spreading blood borne diseases. Also, by using non-regulated microneedling pens, the depth of the needle is not always predictable and controlled and can significantly tear the skin causing scarring and discoloration.

The Skin Pen eliminates the possibility of blood borne illnesses and damage due to the safety features it comes with, starting with the sleeve. This is the protective wrap that is slipped over The Skin Pen after each client, this acts as a barrier over the pen for any fluids that are emitted from the product used on the patient or the patient themselves. The next protective feature is the tip of The Skin Pen, once it has been put on the microneedling pen, it can not be taken off for reuse. Once it has been taken off the pen, it breaks and is unable to be put back on, which eliminates the possibility of backflow. The needles of The Skin Pen are inspected for straightness to ensure that the needles aren’t hooked or barbed to prevent the skin from getting snagged during the treatment. Lastly, The Skin Pen is wireless, which prevents any substance from collecting onto the cord.

Whether you are a client of Deux Rose Beauty Refinery or not, we want clients to be fully equipped with knowledge so that they can understand what these treatments fully are and that they have a right to ask questions prior to your appointment to ensure you’re receiving the safest result.

When getting microneedling treatments, you as a client have the right to ASK what microneedling pen is being used!

  • Kybella- Let’s Banish Your Double Chin

If you don’t love your double chin, then you’ll love Kybella. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kybella, this injection treatment is not a dermal filler or an anti-wrinkle toxin, Kybella is used to permanently eliminate stubborn fat cells in targeted areas.

Yes, you read that correctly- permanently eliminate stubborn fat cells.

But before you book your appointment, let’s talk about what Kybella exactly is, where it can be applied, and what to expect after your treatment. Kybella is a deoxycholic acid and this acid is actually produced by the body in the digestive system. The acid works to break down fat cells in targeted areas and commonly treated areas are, the double chin, the lower belly, and arm fat. It is important to emphasize that Kybella is ideal for small areas of fat and most clients will require more than one treatment. Each seating of Kybella requires two vials of the acid and on average patients will need a total of 4 or more vials, which is a minimum of two seatings. Once a patient has been seen by our nurse injector, we can determine how many treatments will be needed to accomplish the desired result. Clients can receive treatments one month apart, but are not permitted to receive more than 6 treatments (12 total vials).

So what does a typical Kybella treatment look like from start to finish?

Let’s say a patient is coming to get their double chin treated, after the paperwork and medical evaluation have been completed, the patient is then seated in preparation for Kybella. A strong numbing agent is applied to the targeted area, and a grid is then applied to the skin to mark the areas for the injection. The Kybella is then injected into the mapped areas until the vials have been emptied and the effects of the Kybella can be seen and felt immediately.

It is to be expected that the site of the injection will begin to swell, the bulk of the swelling will subside a few days after the injection and the remainder of the swelling will subside over the next few weeks. Some patients may experience bruising, but it is not common.

Who is not a candidate for Kybella? If you have received surgery in the past on the desired treatment area, please notify our doctor. If you are pregnant or nursing, have serious bleeding disorders, or are taking serious medication then you need to alert our medical staff. This treatment will not be administered to anyone under the age of 18 in our clinic.

Lastly, and perhaps the most important question, why get Kybella? For patients who are insecure about their appearance and do not want to undergo surgery or other invasive fat removing treatments, Kybella is the ideal alternative. There is very little downtime and patients can go about their daily activities immediately after their appointment.

Now, let’s get you in for your Kybella appointment, call our clinic at 702-683-2831!

  • Lip Injections: What To Expect And How To Prep

    ‘

If you’re considering injection treatments of any kind, it can understandably be a little intimidating and possibly unclear as to how to prepare for an injection, or what to expect after. But the good news is that we’re here to help!

For starters, the preparation, possible side effects, and aftercare will vary depending on what treatment you receive. And while some reactions to injections are normal, not all people experience them. This article will be one in a series but will focus on what to do before and after your lip injection appointment specifically.

In our clinic, all new patients are given a new patient packet that gives us insight into any allergies, current conditions, and medical history that we need to be aware of. They are then seen by Dr. Gresen for a brief medical consultation to ensure that the client is a candidate to receive injections and once they’ve been deemed a healthy candidate, the real fun begins and our lovely Nurse Injectors work their magic!

When you receive injections in our clinic, the results are achieved with a collaboration between our Nurse Injector’s recommendation and your personal expectations. Clients can expect to be fully assessed by our Nurse Injector’s professional opinions on what steps will be taken to accomplish the desired result and which injection product is the best suited for them.

Now let’s talk about what to do before you see our amazing staff.

    Lip Injections Prep:

Avoid taking blood thinning medications or even supplements like fish oil tablets for 48 hours before your appointment as these can contribute to bleeding during the injection. We also advise clients to abstain from alcohol consumption 24 hours prior to your injection appointment. Drinking alcohol the night before an appointment can contribute to swelling, bruising, and bleeding.

Come hydrated and have a light meal before (preferably with carbs to keep your blood sugar up).

If you are someone who experiences cold sores, we recommend taking your prescribed medication for the three days leading up to your appointment and continuing to take the medication three days after to prevent any breakouts. An alternative to prescribed cold sore medication, the dietary supplement, Lysene, will also be sufficient.

    Lip Injections Post-Care:

Fillers are hydrophilic, meaning that the product draws water to the site of the injection. This can sometimes cause bubbles or bumps in the lips where a product has unevenly settled. Don’t panic, fillers can be molded up to two weeks post injection and can be massaged back into the uneven areas.

    Reactions:

IT’S NORMAL! Lip fillers are hyaluronic acid and are naturally produced by the body which allows the product to be safely metabolized. However, lip fillers are still synthetic so it is common for people to swell, have bruising, or to have soreness. These reactions simply go away on their own after a few days. If a client has severe swelling, this reaction is typically immediate and can be determined before a client leaves the clinic if they need to be prescribed a medication to bring the swelling down within the hour.

    Lip Injections:

If You Don’t Love Them: If you decide that perhaps lip fillers just aren’t for you, then not to worry. Lip fillers can be dissolved and the dissolvent begins working immediately.
