4 Effective Treatments for Acne Scars

Acne scars are arguably the worst part about acne breakouts. Acne scars serve as unwanted reminders of struggles with acne and they are difficult to treat at home. Fortunately, there are now treatment options for patients looking achieve a smooth, even complexion.

The severity and treatment of acne scars depend on a number of factors, including the type of acne lesion, the degree of scarring, and how long it lasts. Acne scars can be very difficult to treat, but new treatments have made it possible to improve acne scar appearance. At Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery, our advanced aestheticians are here to help! To learn more about treatments for acne scarring, keep reading.

    Skincare

Skincare products play a vital role in boosting your skin’s complexion while also addressing acne scarring. Our top three skincare products for acne scarring are:

    • AlphaRet Clearing Serum by SkinBetter: This serum is a retinoid-based serum designed for those who wish to maintain a youthful-looking complexion and clarify the appearance of oilier, blemish-prone skin. This product improves the appearance of skin clarity, pores, and overall tone and texture.
    • AlphaRet Overnight Cream by SkinBetter: This skincare cream is made up of a retinoid combined with an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that provides visible skin rejuvenation with little to no irritation. This product is great for improving the appearance of lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and texture.
    • Even Tone Correcting Serum by SkinBetter: This serum is a lightweight, multi-action skin tone serum. The Even Tone Correcting Serum improves the appearance of brown patches, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, discoloration and acne scarring. If you have multiple skin concerns, this is the product for you!

    Chemical Peels

When it comes to acne scars, chemical peels can be a helpful treatment option. Peeling works by removing the top layer of skin, which can reduce the aspect of scars. At Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery, we carry a variety of chemical peels from major skincare brands such as SkinCeuticals, SkinBetter and VI Peel.

Chemical peels can address active acne, acne scarring, skin complexion, skin pigmentation and everything in between. Our advanced aestheticians can help pick the perfect peel for your specific skin needs!

    Microneedling

At Deux Rosé, we also offering Microneedling treatments with the FDA-approved SkinPen. Microneedling is a type of collagen induction therapy. This is an effective treatment of scars that uses tiny needles to create controlled injuries to your skin. When this happens, it triggers the body’s healing response which results in collagen production.

Microneedling is often used to treat scarring and hyperpigmentation. This procedure is beneficial for acne scars, as it promotes elastin and collagen production. Microneedling may also help reduce appearance of acne breakouts.

    Laser Treatments

Laser treatments target the damaged collagen in the skin responsible for the formation of acne scars. The laser energy breaks up the affected skin tissue and stimulates the production of new collagen. This new collagen fills in the acne scars and combats the uneven appearance of skin texture. There are a number of different laser acne scar treatments available, and the best one for you will depend on your individual acne scarring.

Microneedling: Microneedling is a collagen-induction therapy skin treatment. For microneedling, we use the FDA-approved SkinPen to repeatedly create punctures in the skin with fine point needles in order to boost your skin’s natural collagen production. Microneedling helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring and texture. This treatment is also an option for patients dealing with rosacea!

SkinBetter Alto Advanced Defense and Repair Serum: SkinBetter is one of our most popular and trusted skincare brands. SkinBetter has released a new product, Alto Advanced Serum, which is a comprehensive antioxidant defense product which protects you from both intrinsic and environmental factors. SkinBetter’s Alto Advanced Defense Serum improves skin dullness, texture and overall redness, including rosacea. We also recommend pairing this product with microneedling treatments to maximize your results!

Custom HydraFacial with Light Therapy: Consistent clinical facials are another option for patients with rosacea. In conjunction with monthly facials, red light therapy can also help treat your rosacea. Light therapy treatments are available as an add-on to your custom facials to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Serum: SkinMedica is another skincare brand popular among both our patients and staff! • WARNING: Do Not Try This Treatment at Home!

With the surge of TikTok trends, viral Facebook posts and Pinterest DIY’s, it can be hard to determine what is actually legitimate and what’s not. One of those current popular trends is at-home dermaplaning. Although it’s a popular trend on the internet, dermaplaning is one procedure you should not try to do yourself!

Dermaplaning is a treatment where a scalpel blade is used on the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells & peach fuzz, exfoliating the skin and improving your skin’s texture. At-home dermaplaning treatments and tools simply shave your face, while dermaplaning treatments in a med spa are medical aesthetic treatments that do much more. While we do typically recommend this procedure to patients, it’s important you do not try it yourself. As previously mentioned, dermaplaning is performed with a scalpel blade, so when used incorrectly, there is a lot that could go wrong.

Effective and safe dermaplaning requires a specific technique and an exact angle. Without knowing this, it is extremely possible you can cut your skin, which can then result in an infection and/or scarring of the skin. Not only can self-dermaplaning be dangerous, but it can also be significantly less effective.

At Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery, we put safety first! Our certified aestheticians are trained on proper dermaplaning techniques, so you can rest assured you’re receiving a safe, effective treatment when you’re here. We recommend pairing a dermaplaning treatment with a HydraFacial to maximize the benefits of your facial treatment! To book your HydraFacial and/or skincare consultation, you can click here or give our front desk a call at 702-683-2831 today!

  • Our Favorite Exfoliating Product

Dry skin can be frustrating to deal with and if you’ve ever experienced it, you know what we mean. Dry and dehydrated skin can lead to flaking, rough texture and an increase in the appearance of fine lines, and no one wants that.

We recommend exfoliating at least three times per week in order to combat the drudges of dry skin and we have just the product for the job! The Exfoliating Polish by ZO Skin Health is one of our favorite exfoliating products for at home use. The Exfoliating Polish uses finely ground magnesium beads that gently remove dry and textured skin. Using the Exfoliating Polish is easy and can worked into the skin after cleansing. Afterwards, the skin is smooth and radiant. The best part about the Exfoliating Polish is that it can be incorporated into your existing skincare routine.

For those interested in trying this fantastic product, the Exfoliating Polish can be conveniently purchased in our clinic and our knowledgeable staff members can help assist with any purchases!

  • Our Favorite HydraFacial Add-Ons

If your self-care routine includes getting monthly facials, then you’ve probably heard of a HydraFacial treatment. A classic HydraFacial treatment is a standard, three-step treatment that exfoliates texture, decongests clogged pores and replenishes the skin with antioxidants. However, we always encourage clients to consider add-ons to enhance the benefits of the HydraFacial to meet your specific skincare concerns. Some of our favorite add-ons for the HydraFacial include dermaplaning, jelly masks and HydraFacial boosters!

Dermaplaning is our most popular add-on. This step would come before the HydraFacial treatment, this is an exfoliating step where the first layer of dead skin and peach fuzz are gently removed. The exfoliation allows the skin to absorb a secondary treatment, like the HydraFacial. Dermaplaning also helps brighten the complexion and smooths the skin.

For those wanting an added boost of hydration, consider the jelly mask as your next HydraFacial add-on. We carry the hydrojelly mask suite from EstheMax and they come in a variety of options to address skincare concerns that vary from acne to anti-aging. The jelly masks are activated by water and when applied to the face, it acts as a seal to lock in moisture to the skin. Jelly masks leave your skin glowing and hydrated and are a great addition to your HydraFacial.

Last but not least, the HydraFacial boosters. HydraFacial boosters are engineered serums to act as an added step to infuse into the pores. Boosters concentrate on specific skin concerns like redness reduction or dermal repair, and many more!

Contact our office today by calling 702-683-2831 to schedule your next Custom HydraFacial and explore our amazing facial enhancements!

  • Your Skincare Purchases Can Get You Discounts On Botox

Staying consistent with your skincare routine doesn’t have to be difficult. In fact, it should be easy and rewarding. SkinMedica makes staying on track with your skincare routine easy with their subscription option while earning points with every purchase. SkinMedica is one of the medical grade skincare lines that we carry at Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery and is produced by Allergan. If that sounds familiar to you, it’s because Allergan is the company that manufactures Botox and Juvederm. Allergan has blended the benefits of skincare and injections with their rewards program called Allē where users can earn points for discounts on skincare and injections. Here is a breakdown of what this means!

    1. For every $1 spent on SkinMedica skincare products, clients earn 1 Allē reward point. It is the most robust way to earn Allē points. Points can be earned and used towards any item in the Allergan portfolio (Botox, Juvederm and SkinMedica) and redeemed in our clinic.
    2. Clients can set the parameters of their skin subscription based on terms that work just for them. This includes a 30 day, 45 day, 60 day and 90 day auto shipment frequency. Clients can also pause their subscription or modify it at any time.
    3.  The SkinMedica subscription includes 20% off and 2 day free shipping.
    4. The subscription can include entire SkinMedica regimens or individual items.

For additional information on the Allē app, how to earn points for discounted Allergan injections or which SkinMedica products to purchase, contact our office at 702-683-2831!

  • How To Treat Your Body Acne

How To Treat Your Body Acne

If you’ve struggled with acne, you know that bothersome blemishes can appear not just on your face, but on your body as well. Body acne can occur on your back, chest, neck and buttocks resulting in discomfort, scarring and pigmentation.

When it comes to body acne, we offer a few solutions to clear up that complexion. Our first line of defense is chemical peels. But not just any chemical peel. For the body, you’ll want the heavy duty VI Peel to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin to promote healthy, cellular turnover. The VI Peel treatment includes after-care products to take home to ensure the best result. VI Peel also has a branded app that allows the recipient to set reminders, follow the aftercare steps and review FAQ’s.

Another solution for body acne is the IPL treatment with blue light. IPL targets the skin with intense pulsed light and the blue light lens is specifically designed to treat acne. This treatment is relatively quick and requires very little downtime with highly effective results.

If laser facials sounds like the solution for you, the most advanced laser treatment that we offer at Deux Rosé Beauty Refinery is the Erbium Yag. The laser completely resurfaces the skin and reduces scarring, pigmentation, fine lines and can be administered over acne. The Erbium Yag treatment does require a five to seven day downtime, but once healed, the skin is fresh and bright!

Lastly, Microneedling treatments – not to combat active acne but to treat acne scarring. Microneedling treatments break up pigment, scarring, resurfaces the skin and prompts collagen to help rejuvenate the skin.

You don’t have to face acne alone, our talented estheticians can provide you with aesthetic care plans that include treatments and skin care products to help reach your goals. Call us today and schedule a consultation by calling 702-683-2831.

  • Your Skin Tightening Solution

    Your Skin Tightening Solution

Taking care of your skin means more than just using the right skincare products. As we age, it is a combination of muscle and fat movement under the skin that causes hollowness or jowling, and depletion of natural collagen production which causes wrinkling, skin laxity (skin sagging) and the surfacing of hidden sun damage. Sounds scary? Well, it doesn’t have to be! The more you understand the aging process the easier it is to treat the causing factors not just the problem itself.

Skin tightening requires more than just skincare products or cosmetic injections. In order to combat this particular concern, clients will need to participate in RF Microneedling. RF Microneedling helps with a number of benefits, but the primary benefit being skin tightening.

RF Microneedling is radio frequency microneedling. The tip of the handpiece delivers heat into the deeper layers of the skin through fine point needles. The heat results in collagen production and skin tightening. It can also help with diminishing scarring and stretch marks. The RF Microneedling treatment can also be done on the body. Common areas that we see clients needing RF Microneedling are the neck, decolletage, elbows and knees.

The RF Microneedling treatment is safe for all Fitzpatrick types and should be incorporated into your anti-aging regimen. On average, clients will need a minimum of three treatments for optimal results but results can be seen after one treatment.

Contact our office today to schedule your RF Microneedling treatment!

  • Why It’s The Season For Medical Esthetics

While facials should be done all year round, some seasons are better suited for services over others. As we slip out of summer and into September, it’s the perfect time to rehabilitate your skin from the summertime activities that can be harsh on your skin.

You may be  asking yourself, “what treatments are categorized as medical esthetics?” Medical esthetic services may require the provider to have a medical director on staff due to the nature of the treatment. These treatments are typically invasive and require down time or they include high-strength chemical peels.

Our favorite medical esthetic treatments include Microneedling, Vi Peels, SkinBetter and SkinCeuticals chemical peels and RF Microneedling treatments. Each of these treatments offer a variety of benefits that range from acne solutions, scarring and pigment reduction, wrinkle reduction and collagen production.

As the seasons change it also means that your immediate skincare concerns may also change. Staying ahead of the upcoming changes that come with dry and cold weather will be advantageous for your skincare efforts.

  • How Serious Are You About Your SPF?

How Serious Are You About Your SPF?

The best way to combat premature aging is to take preventative measures. We find that the simplest way to do this is to wear your SPF. Now, you may be rolling your eyes, but wearing daily sunscreen is the most cost-effective way to prevent sun damage, prevent premature wrinkles and most-importantly it helps with preserving your skin’s overall health. Keep in mind, wearing sunscreen is not just for the face, it is also important to cover other areas of the body that are exposed to the sun on a consistent basis like your hands, arms, neck, chest, back of the ears, etc.

If you’re not consistent with your sunscreen, here are some hot takes that you need to know:

    1. Wearing sunscreen should not be reserved for outdoor activities only. Exposure to the sun and free-radicals are experienced on a daily basis. Even blue light from televisions, cell phones and computers cause damage to the skin. Wear it everyday and re-apply accordingly based on the activity!
    2. Wearing an SPF 30 is not enough protection. It just isn’t. Sunscreen is most effective with an SPF 50 and higher.
    3. Mineral sunscreen or “physical sunscreen” is better for you than chemical sunscreen.
    4. If there is an SPF in your makeup or moisturizer – is it not enough protection against sun damage.

If you’re asking yourself where you should start with your sunscreen, we highly recommend the SkinBetter brand. SkinBetter has their line of sunscreen products in their SunBetter suite that include an SPF compact, SPF 56 stick and two cream SPF moisturizers (tinted and non-tinted) that are SPF 75 and SPF 70 respectively.

Pick up your SPF in our clinic or easily shop the products through our “Physician Store” portal on our website!
